Hexa

Experiment, Physical

Description

Hexa is a the combination of a geometric thing whose name I don’t know, a wireless keyboard chip, some switches and some Processing code. I am fascinated by the nature of this geometric object, that it can be turned inside out for ever and ever. As it lies good in hand, I wanted to use it as a percussive instrument. Inside every segment, there are tilt switches, these can be used to detect when the object is being played. When turning the object to switch the sample-type, I had to detect when two sides meet.  For that I used small contacts, on the outside of each side, which worked quite well, but it would be better here to use magnetic sensors.
